What's on this site

Yearbooks, student newspapers, catalogs and other pamphlets appear as they are requested by patrons and as might be appropriate for reunion classes. There are special interest items and, in development, anniversary materials. As we find interesting pictures, we post them as well.

How to find it

The links in the right panel will open the various item categories.

Recent activities

Dr. E. Wayne Harbinger (cy 1955) brought to our attention the rich AA history of play at Doubleday Field, at the Baseball Hall of Fame, in Cooperstown, New York. See the article we put together with pictures of the first excursion there in 1939.

Two history articles by John McClintock have been posted in the "current articles" section. They are separate accounts of the major events in the histories of the two schools, The Albany Academy and Albany Academy for Girls, from the foundings to 2007. These "short versions" are a prelude to the full bicentennial accounts that are still in preparation.

The 1960 Academe and 1960 Cue are available for viewing and download. Select "literary magazines & yearbooks" in the right panel.

The 1946 AAG student handbook and the 1958 brochure promoting the Blatner building for Academy Road have been posted in the "pamphlets section." The Blatner building completes its fiftieth year in March, 2010.

What we need

We are surveying the published items. Most collections so far examined are in very good condition and complete. Urgently needed are:
  • Fish and Pumpkin: issue 1 from 1957-58; donated: thank you!
  • Academe: 1960, 1973, 1988, 1996
  • Cue: 1989; donated: thank you!
  • Cupola, Spring 2001; donated: thank you!
  • Cupola, Spring 2004 (yellow cover, lower school boys)
  • Cupola, Winter/Spring 2006 (mixed with lower right blue, "Changing Landscape")

We accept donations of items relating to the experience of past students. Especially interesting are scrapbooks, academic work, and published works of AA and AAG graduates. We can take girl's uniform examples from past decades, but we have sufficient examples of cadet uniforms dating from the 1940s onward.
